Janet King Community Relations Coordinator, Native American Health Center janetk@nativehealth.org Janet King, MSW, has been working for mental health transformation on county, state and national levels. Since the passage of the Mental Health Services Act in 2004, Ms. King has advocated for the law to empower stakeholders, especially consumers and family members, to design services that are culturally competent and should target the unserved and inappropriately served populations. Ms. King has been involved with the California Reducing Disparities Project to ensure funding streams are created for community defined practices. She is a founding member of Racial Ethnic Mental Health Disparities Coalition as a voice of the ethnic, cultural populations to policy makers. Ms. King is from the Lumbee tribe in North Carolina and has a 29 year old daughter.
